SUSTAINABILITY

OUR COMMITMENT

Makers care about the impact we have on the environment, which is why we’re working towards becoming a certified B CorporationTM – meaning we’re committed to making long-term positive change for our community and the world around us. B Corporations are a global group of businesses who aim to use business as a force for good, balancing people and the planet with profit.
Every piece of furniture our Makers craftsmen build, from kitchens and cabinets to shelving and window seats, is built to last.

Making every day greener…

Makers also take these steps to ensure our work is ecologically responsible:

  • We buy our timber and materials from UK suppliers.

  • Our wood is certified by either FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) or PFEC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) so it all comes from sustainably managed forests.

  • All our kitchens and furniture are made in our London workshop, where we keep and reuse as many offcuts as possible; 95% of our waste is recycled.

  • We can help you dispose of your old kitchen or furniture appropriately, whether that means selling it on, donating to a charity who will reuse it or recycling it all.

  • Makers make a monthly donation to the Woodland Trust, helping to offset our carbon footprint.

  • All the electricity used in our workshops, offices and showroom is generated from 100% renewable sources.
